Why do I get the message, "NTLM authentication failed" when I try to connect or publish to my FrontPage Web?

You must do the following before you can connect to or publish to your FrontPage Web using FrontPage98 in Windows 95 or 98:

Click the Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop with your right mouse button. Go to properties.

Make sure "Client for Microsoft Networks" is installed in the top window

Make sure under "Primary Network Logon" you have selected, "Client for Microsoft Networks". Close the network neighborhood

Next you double click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop

Now double click on the "Dialup Networking" icon

You should see a profile for your dialup connection, click it with your right mouse button and go to "properties"

Click on "Server Type" and make sure that the "log on to network" checkbox is checked and "require encrypted password" checkbox is unchecked.

You may have to reboot your computer but that should do it. If it still doesn't not work, give us a call and we will help troubleshoot the problem further.
